Dear Teacher,

Is it ok to ask 'How's your flat?' when I want someone to describe their flat?

Is it not 'What's your flat like?' ?

Or are both correct?

Kind regards
Iris

"What's your flat like?" is better but I'm sure that "How's your flat?" is used.

To me, "How's your flat?" has some idea of "How are you getting on in your flat?".

 Or if something was previously wrong with the flat: 'How's your flat? Is the plastering finished yet?'

b

 I was thinking of a similar, yet more dramatic, context - How's your flat? Did the fire in the kitchen actually sweep through the whole of it?
