Why is this sentence wrong? I can not understand, why we do not use the here.

I’m driving to the work.

Why is this sentence wrong? I cannot understand no comma here why we do not use "the" here.

I’m driving to the work.

In this context "work" can be seen as uncountable. We don't use the article with things like "to work", "at work", "after work". The only time that "work" is countable is when it means "a piece of work" (look up "opus").

I'm driving to work.
I'm at work.
We're going for a drink after work.
I forgot to have breakfast before work.
I'm late for work.
