I wrote this:

"After that, we got to talking. She told me that she was under treatment for depression. I asked into it, and then she just completely broke down."

Is 'asked into it' correct/natural here? If not, what else would be natural?

I asked her about it.

If you want to use "into", you need to say something like "I delved deeper into it and ...".

"After that, we got to talking.

The underlined is wrong. Say: "We got talking" or "We got to talk".

"Got to talking" is commonly used in the US. It's a expression I use quite often. In fact, the 'got to X-ing' pattern works with most verbs as far as that goes.

I asked into it, and then she just completely broke down."

Is 'asked into it' correct/natural here? If not, what else would be natural?
Again, it works fine for me, although some of the other suggestions of course work just as well.
