Is this sentence correct?

When I had not received a response from you, I assumed that you were very busy in the office. I knew you would response once you had a chance.

It's fine, after my correction, but 'When I didn't receive ...' would also be acceptable and, perhaps, more natural.

response - noun
respond - verb
