This is an entry from my diary. Please check it and correct any mistakes.

My dad just received a call claiming that he clicked a promotion link a week ago and successfully applied for a phone card and they would deduct money from his credit card in an hour. Since the phone number is registered under my mum's name, she took the phone. She told the guy that she hadn't clicked any links and suspected that he was a scammer. However, he knew her name so she was confused and passed the phone to me. I asked the guy how come the transaction would be successful if she hadn't entered credit card numbers. He said nowadays everything was just that easy and said I was stupid. Who is stupid? Obviously him. Normal staff wouldn't be impolite so I took his staff code and name and asked my mum to call the telecom provider. Finally, It proved that that call was a scam.

TURNED OUT that that call was a scam.
He was trying to get you to do something, but I'm not sure what.

It's good to be careful.

Can I say “He said I was stupid”? Does your use of the present tense for that part mean the scammer consider “I’m stupid” a fact?

It's common enough in reported speech, I guess. So "He said I was stupid" is not wrong.

It's an impolite way of disagreeing with somebody.

No. Calling them "stupid" is an impolite way of disagreeing with somebody.
