b- a lot
I think a is fine. What about b?
 
In the absence of "of" after "a lot", only "much" is even remotely possible. However, we rarely use "much" in a positive sense.

I have much money. ❌
I don't have much money. ✅

The correct answer would be "I have a lot of work to do".
