[Grammar] I suggested that they (should) take the exam as soon as possible.

In my previous thread you guys said it is not necessary to put 'should'

in the sentence like below:

1. I asked that they always [STRIKE]should[/STRIKE] be on time.


Then how about 'suggest, demand, insist, recommend' sentences.

Do we HAVE TO omit 'should'?


2. She suggested that they should take the exam as soon as possible.

3. She suggested that they take the exam as soon as possible.



Which is preferred between 2 and 3? Are the both acceptable and grammatical ?
