1. I swore to never play with fire again.

2. I swore never to play with fire again.

Which sentence should I use? Also, is it possible to use 'swear' instead of 'swore' in a composition?

Pedants would say that only #2 is correct, but most of us can live with #1.
Also, is it possible to use 'swear' instead of 'swore' in a composition?
It depends on whether you are swearing as you write, or reporting a past oath..
