It just occurred to me that "lost" might not be the best choice here because you're referring to a specific place: your car. A: What are you doing? B: Oh, I'm looking for my watch. I think I left it in my car.

I think that in my example "I think I've left it" would be correct, too, but "I think I left it" is what I would probably say.
