[Grammar] I think I lost/ have lost

Hello!

I can't figure out which tense is correct in this sentence, can you help me?

"I think I've lost/ lost my watch in my car".

NOT A TEACHER.

Both are possible - which one is correct depends on the context.

It just occurred to me that "lost" might not be the best choice here because you're referring to a specific place: your car.

A: What are you doing?
B: Oh, I'm looking for my watch. I think I left it in my car.
 
NOT A TEACHER.

I think that in my example "I think I've left it" would be correct, too, but "I think I left it" is what I would probably say.
