What do you mean, "it isn't"? "Do" is "tun" and "make" is "machen"

No, that's not strictly right. Often, 'do' is best translated as 'machen'. I wonder how would you translate "Hi. What are you doing?" into German?

Look, this point doesn't really matter. I know what you meant. It's my fault for sidetracking the thread.
