Shouldn't it be I think I saw? I'm asking because I saw this meme and I recalled two things...

1. The cartoons I grew up with. (Ahh, childhood memories -- I'll tell you more about them another day, when I'm less busy.)

2. The fact that I have written somewhere in my manuscript I think I saw (something). The situation in that sentence in my manuscript is about the same as the situation in that meme. So is it wrong? Should I replace it with I thought I saw?
 
I don't think you should use Tweetie Pie as a paragon example of good speech. You're right that it doesn't really make good sense.

It might help you to know that the pronunciation of Tweetie Pie's catchphrase is something like this:

I tawt I taw a puddy tat!

You can hear that tawt and taw rhyme closely.

It depends on what meaning you intend to convey.
