If I take the bus and the subway almost every day, is it natural to say "I use public transportation every day"?

Is it also natural to say "Using public transportation to get to work has become part of many people's lives"?

Yes.

Yes, but as stated above, "public transport" is more common in BrE. You can check the ngram to confirm that.

Why not say "I use public transport[ation] almost every day"? That's the true situation.
Say "I use public transport[ation] every day" if you actually use it every day.
