What is the difference between I used and I was used?
Is 'used' in 'I used' a past verb or an adjective?
Is 'used' in 'I was used' a past partisiple or an adjective?
Which one is correct in the following sentence
I used/was used to read books but I don't anymore.

"I used to read books" means, at sometime in the past you read books, you don't do it any more.

An example;
I was used to listening to that kind of music, but now it's all noise to me.
or,
I used to listen to that kind of music, but now it's all noise to me.

I can't tell the difference between these to sentences.

An example;

I can't tell the difference between these to sentences.

Here's the difference that I see:
Normally, "I'm/was used to doing something" implies that there's some kind of activity that is a bit uncomfortable or you don't particularly like BUT got accustomed to. You created a habit (usually because you needed to.)
He was used to walking long distances every day.
I'm used to getting up early.

"I used to listen to that music" simply states the fact that you did formerly listen to it and now you don't - without any other implication.
"I was used to listening to that music" sounds to me like you were not very fond of it but you got into a habit of listening and it became OK after a while. That's why I think the second sentence is closer to what you intended to say.

I used to read books but I don't anymore. This is correct, "was" is completely redundant in your sentence.
