I want to say there is a smell in the air.

Can I use "laced with"?

Is this correct and natural?

The air was laced with the aroma of pastries.

The air was laced with the smell of Turkish coffee.

To me, a smell or taste more detectable than just 'air' is laced with another. So, The musty air was laced with the smell of Turkish coffee works.
