Is the following sentence grammatical?

1- I was making popcorn until my mom came from the office.

Should I use past perfect instead?

Neither one makes sense with "until". Can you use different words to express the idea?

I can't think of another word at the moment. My question is: can I use until with past continuous tense like this?

It's possible, but it doesn't work with "making popcorn". You could say something like "I was playing video games until my mother came home and told me to do my homework."
