Hi.I am confused about Past Continuous and Past Perfect Continuous. Can you explain the difference beetween following sentences?

I was reading a book when you called me. and I had been reading a book when you called me.

Thank you

'I was reading a book when you called me' means exactly that.

'I had been reading a book when you called me' means I was no longer reading the book.

The first means you were in the act of reading a book when your phone rang.

Hi. (Space after a full stop.) I am confused about the past continuous and the past perfect continuous. (Space after a full stop.) Can you explain the difference [strike]beetween[/strike] between the following sentences?

I was reading a book when you called me. [strike]and[/strike]
I had been reading a book when you called me.

Thank you.

Note my corrections above. We don't capitalise the names of tenses. Remember to put a space after every comma, full stop, question mark or exclamation mark.
