subordinate clauses in unreal conditionals

I would not believe you if you said it.
I would not believe you if you said that she is pretty/ were pretty?

Do you have a question for us? Your opening sentence fragment (which was originally your title) isn't a question or a complete sentence. I have changed your thread title. As you should know by now, titles should be unique and relevant to the thread, and include some/all of the words/phrases you are asking us about. The third line of your post should not end with a question mark.

I do not know the rule for the verbs in the subordinate clauses dependent on a principal clause in unreal subjunctive. For example:
If you said that she is pretty...
Can we say:
If you said that she were pretty?

You can say "If I said that she is pretty ..." or "If I said that she was pretty ...".

The only way you could put "were" in that fragment would be "If I were to say that she is/was pretty ...".
