Topic: Describe a crowded place you’ve been to (Source)

You should say:

  • when you went there
  • where the place is (or, was)
  • who you went there with
and explain how you felt about the place.

My response:

A few days ago, I went to a shopping mall with my friends. It's located in Tsim Sha Tsui, which is a typical tourist spot in Hong Kong. Since Christmas is coming, that place has been packed more than usual. We went there for a festive feast. There was a restaurant offering Christmas buffets and we had dinner there. After that, we took some photos in the mall and on the street.

This year, the decoration theme of the mall is originated from a Japanese candy brand called Peko. I like their candy, which usually featuring a young girl and boy but I don't want to see them in Christmas decorations because I don't think they fit the festival. What I expected would be animals, trees and snow, not two children's statues sitting at the centre of the mall. It was more like a pop up store. Maybe they were really pop up stores because they sold candy there.

For the street, it was much better. Many buildings were decorated with dazzling lights. I especially liked the decoration of the Peninsula hotel. They had a giant shiny ribbon installed on the front of the hotel, making it look like a gift box. Many people took pictures of it. After taking photos, I Ieft quickly because it was so crowded that people almost stood on the drive road and it was very dangerous. Although the place was crowded, I would visit it next year because it was very beautiful.

I think you mean people were standing in the road or close to it.

That's unclear. What do you mean?

Again, that's unclear.

This year, the Christmas decorations features the boy and the girl (fictional characters) from a Japanese candy brand called Peko. I don’t think they fit the theme of Christmas. They have nothing to do with Christmas.

Again, that's unclear.
There were some stalls selling candy from that Japanese company. Maybe they were just a pop-up store.

What do you mean by "pop up store"? Is it temporary? 🤔

Why does the fact that they were selling candy make you think they were pop-up stores?

It’s because when Christmas ends, the mall will remove the decorations and stalls.

Doesn't anyone sell candy at the mall once Christmas is over?

I meant specifically the stalls of a Japanese candy brand called Peko which features a girl and a boy. They will be removed with its decoration.

We almost always use "decorations" in the plural.
