My response:

I'm going to talk about my nephew. He's 11 years old and he's very smart. I first met him five years ago and he lives in Shanghai. At that time, I was going to attend my grandfather's funeral in Shanghai, so I'd stayed at my uncle's apartment for a few days and met my nephew there. He was very active and always ran around. He liked to play water and throw any kind of toys at me. My first impression of him was that he was mischievous, but as I spent more time with him, I realised he's mind was quite mature. Once I asked him not to throw toys at me and warned him that if he kept doing that, Santa Claus wouldn't give him Christmas presents this year. He said he didn't believe in Santa Claus because that was just a fictional character created by adults to coax children into doing what they want them to do. I was at a loss for words when I heard that. I then tried to divert his attentions to playing puzzle games. At first, he failed but he didn't give up. Through trial and error, he got the hang of it very quickly and solved all the conundrums with my little hints. I would say he was not only smart but kind of resourceful. Although he liked to torment me with toys, I still love him a lot because he's not only smart but also kind. On the day when my grandfather's body was sent to cremation, everyone cried. He came up to me and consoled me. I was impressed that he knew so many things when he was just a child.
