Hello buddies :)
Maybe you know this song (by Simply Red):
If you don't know me by now.
I always ask myself what it means:
1) If you don't know me from now on. (Now is your only chance.) :?:
2) If you don't know me until now. (You've had enough chances.) :?:

I guess it's nr. 2.
Something like, "You've had enough time to get me know, so either now or never!"

In case you need more context, here you have the lyrics:
If you don't know me by now (if you don't know me)
you will never never never know me (no you won't)
if you don't know me by now
you will never never never know me ooh
We all got our own funny rules
I've got mine woman you got yours too
just trust in me like I trust in you
as long as we been together that should be so easy to do
Just get yourself together or we might as well say goodbye
what good is a love affair when you can't see eye to eye oh
Cheers!

Yes, number 2 is the idea. If, after all this time, you don't know me, then you never will.

If you don't know me by now
you will never never never know me ooh
All the things that we've been through
you should understand me like I understand you
but girl I know the difference between right and wrong
I ain't gonna do nothing to break up our happy home

It's a great song!
The written lyrics don't exactly match the singer's words, and the correct spelling is 'fuss', not "foss".

Thanks, guys.

@2006:
I just copied the lyrics from another site :)
Thanks for correcting them.

Actually, I didn't correct the mistakes; I just pointed out that there are some. Maybe some people, including you, will want to listen for the mistakes and say what the mistakes are.
