Two guys at a bar.

Guy 1: Why don't you go over and talk to her?
Guy 2: Why would she be interested in me?
Guy 1: I'm not saying she is. But what if she was? Just go over there.

Does the bold-face part make sense here? Is 'was' correct/natural in the second sentence?
 
Yes. Some would prefer 'were' but, in BrE at least, the subjunctive form is dying.
 
"What if she is?" makes more sense here.
 
There's a multitude of possibilities there. For example, "I didn't say she was. But what if she is?"
