It sounds quite right to me saying that

In addition to these courses, we also have ...

but I was told that the also is redundant? But, I'd really like to know if it is grammatically wrong to add also (as in the above sentence) after the phrase starting with in addition to ...

It is redundant, but it's not grammatically wrong.
