When I was in tenth grade I took a lot of days leave. I missed school a lot. I didn't take extra classes as well and couldn't score good marks in the final exams.

So can I say "I hadn't taken that many days leave in my entire school life that I took in tenth standard."

"In tenth standard I took so many days leave that I hadn't taken before."

"I missed school for so many days that I hadn't done in other classes."

Could you please check my sentences please?

We don't call it "leave" when we're at school. That's the term for taking holiday from work.

"I was off sick more in tenth grade than in the whole of the rest of my time at school."

We don't, but apparently Indians do. I asked my wife, who was born and raised in India, whether if she skipped school she would have called it "taking leave from school". She said yes.

Thank you Probus but I do not want to use Indian dialects at all.

"I was off sick more in tenth grade than in the whole of the rest of my time at school."

Even if we were not sick we need to say "sick off"?

Are these sentences correct now? I know you have given me a correct sentence but could you please check my sentences so that I can understand it better?

Where did I suggest you use "sick off"? Try reading responses more carefully.

I had never before been off sick for as many days as I was in tenth grade.

"In tenth standard I was off sick for so many days that I hadn't been before." :cross:
In tenth grade, I had more days off sick than ever before.

"I missed school for so many days that I hadn't done in other classes." :cross:
I can't repair this one. It doesn't make sense.

See above.

See above.

some times children miss school for other reasons as well like if they are going somewhere with their parents or if somebody dies in their family then they also miss the school. I mean there can be numberous examples like these so could you please tell me that what we need to say if a kid misses school for some other reason than being sick?

I was off school for more than ten days when my grandpa died.

In tenth grade, I had more days off school then ever before.
