Hello. What does the underlined parts mean in the context below?
Does "in the end of things" mean "after all"?
Does "until the end of things" mean "forever" or something?

Whatever mysterious connections we had between us, whatever reason he had come to me, didn't matter in the end of things.
All that mattered was that he was here with me, always, until the end of things.

I agree with your interpretations, but "end of things" doesn't sound like present day language to me.
