Can I use "in the original language" in my sentence?

"She wants to watch movies in the original."

The version without language sounds odd to me, so do use it.

Specify the language if you know it.

She wants to watch films in the original Swahili.

It seems fine to me. But if it sounds wrong to you, it probably won't pass muster with a lot of other people.

It sounds more like a general preference. I take it to mean she doesn't like them dubbed or colorized or shortened or "reformatted to fit your screen."

Or, my favourite, edited for content, used by airlines.

I'd use either "original language" or "original version". The latter is used in at least two other languages that I speak: in Spanish it's "versión original" and in French "version originale".
