I was still under the influence of the very moving article of Wardi's that I had read in the previous morning.

We say 'the previous morning' without using 'on' or 'in' before the phrase. But when we do use 'on' or 'in' before it, is it acceptable? Thank you in advance.

'On' is acceptable, 'in' not, in my opinion. I use neither.
