Inasmuch as VS as, since and because

Is it correct to sat "inasmuch as" here instead of as, since or because?

Patients are often unwilling to admit to stress problems inasmuch as they feel they are a form of social failure and it is important that symptoms are identified in order to avoid unnecessary suffering.
 
Yes. It means "because of the fact that".
 
Do you use "inasmuch as" in spoken-English?
I rarely come across with this word, that's why I'm askign.
 
I don't use it much, if it all.
