Hello,

I'm doing some english tests and i'm having some troubles. I'm trying to learn Reported Speech. I have a proposition like this:

"Who comes tonight?"

And the exercise says: He wants to know... (here is were i have to complete the sentence).

Shouldn't i have "He wanted to know..." ? I hope the exercise is wrong, not me.

Thank you for your time!

P.S If i were right, my answer would be something like "He wanted to know who came last night". right?

Not a teacher, nor a native.
Hm.. I think that the indirect speech can be used in both present and past tenses.

"Who comes tonight?" is a very odd question.

Indeed. The exercise says rewrite each question in indirect speech, but i have no ideea how to rewrite that sentence. If anyone knows, please let me know.

Thank you!

I think I've never heard a sentence "Who comes tonight?". I usually hear "Who is coming tonight?".

I could ask, "Who comes from Norfolk Island and speaks Romanian?'

The question, as given, is so flawed that it seems pointless, but the answer I would give is "He asked who was coming that night."

@ 5jj Fixed!

Thank you guys!

"Who comes tonight?"

And the exercise says: He wants to know...
Given this task, the answer is He wants to know who comes tonight, a very unlikely sentence.
