hi,

1. Community is singular an communities are plural.
2. Society is singular and societies are plural.
3. The meaning of the two words is sometimes the same,
and sometimes different. E.g.: the Society of Jesus and the Jewish community.

Thank you for your question.

However, you will see phrases like 'the community are', especially in British English.

thanks.

i still have another question.

when community takes countable form?

thanks

When you are talking about more than one distinct community.

The communities of Suburb A and Suburb B are both happy about the planned extension of Big City's Regional Rail Line.

The Jewish and Catholic communities were both outraged by comments made last week.
