Is the word "melophile" commonly used?

If not, is there a common word for a person who loves music?

I have never encountered it. It's not listed in many dictionaries.

Is there another word for a person who loves music?

What's wrong with music-lover?

I would have rushed to my dictionary if someone had called me that.

I mean, I like melons as much as the next guy, but...

Where did you encounter 'melophile', alpacinou?

Someone who is concerned about high fidelity audio reproduction is an audiophile, but that's more about the technical aspects of sound engineering than strictly music itself.

You'd have been lucky to find it—only two dictionaries here list it.

I love music and have a vast collection, collected over decades, but I didn't know until today that I was a melophile.
