Hi,

could someone please explain the differences between the following sentences to me?

It is a source of information for them.

It is a source of information to them.

Do they mean the same? Are both possible?

Thank you!

I'd use "for".

Do they mean the same? Not to me, they don't. Are both possible? yes

Thank you!

With "for", they may not yet know of that source, but the sentence is telling them that the source could provide them with information.
With "to", they clearly know of the source and have likely already gotten information from it. They already consider it to be a source of information.
