1) It is nearer to our house.
2) It is close to our house.

Are both the above sentences ok and do they convey the same meaning?

They are both correct, but they don't mean the same.

'Closer' and nearer' mean the same. They are the comparative forms of 'close' and 'near' respectively.

What is the difference between both the sentences?

Do you understand the difference between "close" and "closer"?

Anil, please ask your unrelated question 3 in a separate thread, with its own specific title.

Yes but I am not very sure. I understand that we use " closer" when we compare it with something and "close " is used to show the location of something.

For eg: My house is close to your house.

I could not make sentence with "closer". ( Should I use : make or made here, I guess " made" since could is past tence)
