It is THE problem again :)

Thanks Tarheel for correcting my writings. I
I am sure I will be a good writer soon. It is really helping.

Generally speaking, monk has many good qualities, holy, spiritual, discipline, innocent... etc.
But I am choosing a perspective that takes side of physical/material world and going against spiritual world. It is a fight between them. I hope this helps.
I feel like the more I explain, the more people get confused. Should I just stick to Butcher and Monk Productions? But it becomes so general. Do you agree?
Thanks for all the feedbacks. Have a great day.

Hi, GoeStation
I agree, it is profession and it is identity as well.
Don't we all identify ourselves as something?
Now simple THE question, getting really complicated. Help.

Have a great day.

Sorry for not answering your question promptly. When I got so many answers, I got lost. [STRIKE]:)[/STRIKE]

The name is for a film production company.

Thank you for your responses. Good night.
As everyone above has said, none of your choices is wrong, but the first (with an s) is most likely, simply because it's the most concise.

One more note: If the full name is Butcher and Monk Productions, you can refer to one Butcher and Monk film, singular, as a Butcher and Monk production, singular.

Notice that when you use the article a, production should have a small p.

Hi, GoesStation.

I agree; [STRIKE]it is[/STRIKE] they are professions and [STRIKE]it is[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]identity[/STRIKE] names. [STRIKE]as well.[/STRIKE]

Don't we all identify ourselves as something? Are you talking about our jobs?

Now a simple [STRIKE]THE question,[/STRIKE] about "the" is getting really complicated. Help.

Have a great day.

Note my corrections (in red) and comments (in blue) above.

Should I just stick to Butcher and Monk Productions?
No. People will wonder who Ms. Butcher and Mr. Monk are. I recommend the version I proposed a few posts ago.

Two things. One, innocence might be a quality, but innocent is more of a descriptive. Two, feedback is a noncount noun. So you can't have feedbacks.

Please tell us which name you decide to use.

The Butcher and the Monk Production Company. Is that going to be it?

The Butcher and Monk Productions

That one makes me wonder why you say "The."

Butcher and the Monk Productions

Again, why "the"?

Butcher and a Monk Productions

Why a? Why lower case monk?

A Butcher and Monk production[STRIKE]s[/STRIKE]

As I said in post #23, if you begin with A, then production should be singular and lower case. But I would capitalize Butcher and Monk.

When you look at the above names, what kind of effect or emphasis do you get by reading each name?

You haven't really told us what you want to achieve. If you want a simple, easy-to-remember name, I would use Butcher and Monk Productions.

Thank you [STRIKE]in advance[/STRIKE]. Have a great night and go to sleep early.

Too late for that!

Stay healthy and stay safe.
In your first post, you said you were having problems. What problems?

They are symbols, ying and yang. Violence and non-violence. They are opposite. And I am in favor of the butcher. For me the butcher represents reality, struggle. It's raw, honest, aggressive, and passionate toward the life. On the contrary, the monk for me is non-violence but passive, lost, unknown, and undecided, and waiting for divine intervention.

Interesting! The yin and yang remind us that both are necessary: darkness and light, pain and pleasure, life and death. We can't have one without the other. It's the eternal balance.

I am trying to emphasize my meaning toward these names. I hope my grammar is mostly correct. :)
Aha! That explains a lot. Now I get it.

Butcher and Monk Productions is an excellent name. I like it a lot.

Not with the, only Butcher and Monk productions.

Hi, Charlie Bernstein
Putting "the" in front of "Butcher" was my initial thought to emphasize Butcher, to share his perspective.
I like the ying and yang balanced world you mentioned. However, my personal belief is that if anything is perfectly balanced, it will be motionless, lifeless. In order for the wheel of life to spin, for the life to continue, it needs resilient force to move forward to achieve constant movement, like our planets such as sun, earth, moon, etc.

I am leaning toward the The Butcher and Monk Productions. What do you think? Thank you for all the feedback. Have a wonderful day.

As we've said above, that doesn't work.

Thank you for all the feedback. Have a wonderful day.
We greatly appreciate the sentiments, but we actually prefer that you omit opening and closing salutations. We like to keep posts succinct, so we have to spend extra time removing the polite words when we quote you. :)

" 'Butcher and Monk Productions' is a natural name for a company. It makes, or hopes to make, many productions."

I know it sounds perfect. But you mentioned that others were not incorrect either. I am just tying to find a unique name. Thanks

Well, Butcher and Monk Productions is a unique name.

Well, Butcher and Monk Productions is a unique name.
Its a unique name, but people will wonder who the two people they think it names are. They won't tend to see them as a profession and an avocation.

The Butcher and the Monk Productions is good too.

I didn't like it when it was first proposed in a question about using articles because surnames can't take articles. It didn't occur to me to read "Butcher" and "Monk" as a profession and an avocation. I think "The Butcher and the Monk Production Company" somehow reduces the potential for confusion, though I can't say why.

I can honestly say that I don't think I've ever spent more than a couple of seconds wondering why a company is called what it is, regardless of what it does or what it's called. The important thing here is that, if it's going to be a TV/film production company, the word "Productions" appears in it. Other than that, you can call it anything you like. And I mean anything! How about "Decanter and Wheelbarrow Productions"? (I randomly chose two nouns.)

Emsr2d2.

I understand your point. But I am setting up a company and it is going to last for a long time; I hope so. It is like naming your children's names. Yes, of course. You can name anything. But most of the parents will name their children with some words that have meaning behind them. Don't you agree?

Note my corrections above.

In general, I agree about children's names although these days (in the UK, at least) just about anything goes.
