It is years since I read "Gone with the wind", which is my favorite novel. If I were I would this as "It has been years since I have read "Gone with the wind" which is my favorite novel. What would you comment about this?

I'm afraid your part in red doesn't make any sense. Usually I'm good at guessing what was omitted but not this time.
Note Gone with the Wind requires a capital W in the title and that italics are your best choice for titles if possible.

We've talked about this here before and while Americans tend to say "It has been years" I cannot recall if "It it years" is more common elsewhere.
But what the sentence means is "Gone with the Wind is my favorite novel. The last time I read it was years ago."

Oops! I missed "write". I meant to write "If I were I would write". Well, I got the answer. I think it's common in UK because I picked that up from the same IELTS book.

The one you wrote in your prior post would be okay with the capital in the title, and with a comma after the title.
