It was not your fault.
You were not in fault.

Do these sentences convey the same meaning?
Are these sentences simple past tense?

Are these sentences in the simple past tense?

Why do we use "in the" before simple past tense whereas we don't use in " Are these sentences OK"?

Where do you suggest putting "in the" in the sentence "Are these sentences OK?"?

We describe a verb conjugation as being "in" a tense; "tense" is a noun. We don't say that a sentence is "in" ok because "ok" is an adjective.

It has nothing to do with the tense. If a preposition is necessary, we will use in it both the present and the past tense:

It is OK.
It was OK.

It is on the table.
It was on the table.
