It´s a month since the family went skiing.
It´s been a month since the family went skiing.

Diagram them. ;-)

Thanks! What do the two X's signify?

"the" and "time"

I tried to diagram it without anything having to be understood, but I ran into the problem of how to show the "since"

I felt that the subordinate clause modified "time" -- which time? -- and was acting as an adjective (in spite of the conjunction). I don't think it answers "when" about "has been".

I'll have to look at home. Can't see it here in school.

The school is blocking it with something called "Sonic Wall". They are trying to unblock it for me.
