...And they were all born pretty in New York City tonight,
And someone's little girl was taken from the world tonight,
Under the Stars and Stripes...

JAMES BLUNT LYRICS - Carry You Home

What's "Under the Stars and Stripes"?

Unless I'm very much mistaken, the little girl is dead and her coffin is draped with the flag of the United States of America (the Stars and Stripes).

Rover

It could simply mean it happened under the jurisdiction of the "Stars and Stripes." The song doesn't seem overtly military, and flag-draped coffins are used for military funerals. I could be wrong.

Thank you! But If someone has more suggestion, please... suggest. :)

Just to be clear:

If she had wings she would fly away,
And another day God will give her some.

God will give her wings? But why If she already has them?

What makes you think she already has them?

What makes you think she already has them?

If she had wings she would fly away,
And another day God will give her some.

I've been thinking it's would,
but now I see it's will and everything is clear to me.
Thank you very much, Rover. :)
