Jim dosen't speak very clearly.
a.It is difficult to understand him.
b.He is difficult to understand.
c.He is difficult to understand him.
d.He is difficult in understanding.

Is option a correct?

I like both a and b.
 
Note: Jim doesn't speak very clearly.
 
I also see no difference in a or b in terms of correctness.
