Dear sir, Which is correct, "Last but not least" or "Last but not the least". i have heard/read both versions.

The first is correct. In my 66 years as a native English speaker, I have never heard the second. But I'll grant that in the Indian dialect of English you might hear the second.

Thanks, Sir. You are right; I've heard the second in the Indian context only.

Not everyone who answers here is a "sir." Please don't start your threads that way.

Does my avatar give my gender away?

The irony of a troll doll as an avatar in this particular forum is not lost, but since those dolls are not anatomically correct (to my knowledge)... no.

I haven't come across the second in BrE.
