[Idiom] later in the hour

What does exactly 'later in the hour' mean? Is it to say that something is going to happen within an hour, or just some time later on?
 
As always, please give us a complete sentence to consider. If you saw the phrase somewhere, give us the whole sentence, the source and the author.
 
Later in the day sounds more common to me.
 
If one is doing a radio or TV show, it would be used to indicate that some thing is going to happen at some time before the next hour starts. If you say it at 4:15, it will happen before 5:00.
