Dear all,

The chef was trying to use a flaming device to melt the chocolate, but it deosn't work. So he says:

"IT LOOKS LIKE I'LL HAVE TO MAKE DUE WITH A GOOD OLD-FASHIONED PAINTBRUSH."

What's the meaning of "make due with"?

It's "make do." Meaning that one has to do what is necessary with what materials he has on hand.
 
Yes, the expression is "make do." Another word for it is "improvise."

Edited to add: I have seen native English speakers write "make due." It's still a mistake, but it's not limited to ESL students!
