Dear Native speakers,

What does the underlined part mean in the following context?

'Betcha godditl' said Johnny. While I betted that I hadn't, we ambled back to the house via the dam. where tiny wombat footprints could be
seen in the mud.
'Find any?' asked my mother.
'No. But we did get abducted by cows: I said. Johnny giggled as we both slumped in front of the television and our mother cooked us dinner,
which I love because it happens so rarely.

Thanks.

It means that they didn't find any of the things that the mother is asking about, but they were kidnapped by female bovine animals.

Haseli, a better title would have been 'No. But we did get abducted by cows'.

Extract from the Posting Guidelines:

'Thread titles should include all or part of the word/phrase being discussed.'

Isn't it a small world? The last time i was kidnapped by a female bovine animal, I discovered, by some chance or anudder, that her name was Betcha Goddit.

Her daughter was called Dame Vera. I remember, with tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat, the sad mooed of our parting, as we softly sang, "Veal meat again, don't know where, don't know when, but I know veal meat again ..."

I got over it eventually. It was only calf love. But there will be a place in my heart for her, for heifer.

That's too good for a 'simple click on the Like button'.

I don't want to milk it too much, but I feel almost cowed by your response, No bull! Perhaps we ought to steer this topic in a different direction.

Sorry; that's just a load of bullocks. Or, as my kined old teacher used to say, "That's a different cattle of fish".

You hit a new low there. Time to moove on.
