Hi! I am currently preparing my application for the Erasmus+ exchange program and would be very grateful if anyone could review my motivation letter. Thank you so much for your help!
Dear Admissions Committee,
I am writing this letter to apply for the Erasmus+ student exchange program. I would like to spend the next semester of my studies at the University of Bergamo in Italy. Currently, I am currently a third-year student studying Marketing at the Faculty of Management and Tourism at Hanoi University.
1.2 million VND (approximately 46 USD) is the amount my grandparents earned from selling 100 kilograms of rice after nearly three months of hard work cultivating and harvesting it. I grew up in a small village on the outskirts of Hanoi, which is the capital of Vietnam, where farming crops such as rice, corn, and peanuts is the main source of income. From an early age, I spent much of my childhood in the fields, helping my grandparents with farming work. My childhood was filled with happy memories of playing in the fields and enjoying traditional games with my cousins.
However, as I grew older, I gradually became more aware of the economic struggles faced by people in my village. That was when I began to see more and more young people leaving the village to work elsewhere, while more fields were gradually being abandoned. More than half of my peers in the village had gone abroad for work, including my beloved cousin. They left in search of better job opportunities with higher salaries, as opportunities in the hometown were often insufficient to support a stable livelihood. This was not limited to my village; similar challenges could be seen in many rural areas across Vietnam. I began to question why products grown with so much effort by local farmers were still unable to reach wider markets or be valued for their true worth.
Nowadays, advances in technology have made it easier for local products to reach wider audiences through social media and e-commerce platforms. These changes made me curious about the factors that help local products gain visibility and reach wider markets. When I started learning about marketing, I realized that producing a good product is only part of the story; helping it reach the right market is equally important.
My studies at Hanoi University further reinforced my understanding of the power of marketing. Building on the theoretical foundation that I have acquired in class, I participated in a faculty-level research project examining the impact of emotional branding on purchase decisions through brand attitude. This experience allowed me to work with my teammates to survey consumers and gain deeper insights into customer behavior and purchasing decisions. Alongside my research activities, I was involved in organizing the Chạm Màu workshop, where I contributed to communication planning, website creation, and blog writing. Seeing participants register through the channels we had developed gave me valuable hands-on experience and further strengthened my interest in the field.
I am particularly drawn to Bergamo University because programs such as International Management and Marketing closely align with my academic interests. I believe these courses will help me broaden my understanding of marketing, business strategy, and how organizations create value in different market contexts. Moreover, I particularly value the opportunity to meet and connect with people from different backgrounds, which I have already enjoyed at Hanoi University. Beyond academics, I am also attracted to Bergamo city, with its unique architecture and culture, and its beautiful natural scenery. It would be a memorable experience to see the magnificent view of Lake Iseo in person.
If I have the opportunity to study at the University of Bergamo, I believe it would be a meaningful experience that would broaden both my academic understanding and personal perspective. In the long term, I hope to build a career in marketing and continue exploring how products create value beyond the production stage. Building on the knowledge and experiences I gain, I hope to contribute to helping local producers better connect with consumers and communicate the value of their products more effectively.
Thank you for considering my application. I’m looking forward to your response.
Sincerely,
T
