I'm unable to grasp the exact meaning of the following underlined part:

You can forget "my cup will be full" you are never going to need it. I've never heard it in all my 62 years of life. Jeffrey Archer is an appalling writer.

I really enjoy his story-telling. I certainly don't find him appalling. He's an adequate writer and a great teller of tales. We've seen enough evidence that you don't have to be a talented writer to tell a good story.

(And you don't have to be able to write well or tell a compelling story to get rich, if Twilight is any standard to judge by.)
