I'm unable to grasp the exact meaning of the following underlined part:

"... I wish to enter your name for that scholarship. Should you win the prize my cup will be full." - Chapter 9, The Past 1934-1968, The Prodigal Daughter by Jeffrey Archer

Can anyone give a hand?

Thanks a lot.

It's a variation of the following:

My cup runneth over.

Proverb
I have received so many benefits that I cannot contain them all. (Said when you feel overcome because many good things have happened to you.) This week, I finished paying off my mortgage, my arthritis improved, and my first grandchild was born. My cup runneth over. Janet was speechless with happiness when she saw how many of her friends and relatives had joined together to give her a surprise party. "My cup runneth over," she finally said.

Thanks so much.

The question, now, becomes how can one know it's one of the variations of the above proverb?

You can forget "my cup will be full" you are never going to need it. I've never heard it in all my 62 years of life. Jeffrey Archer is an appalling writer.

I love Archer's works, too.

Coolfool, you may wish to look up the definition of "apalling" ;-). By using "too" you are implying (to me) that bhaisahab also likes Archer's works, but this isn't the case.

(There is the possibility that coolfool was being sarcastic....)

I really enjoy his story-telling. I certainly don't find him appalling. He's an adequate writer and a great teller of tales. We've seen enough evidence that you don't have to be a talented writer to tell a good story.

(And you don't have to be able to write well or tell a compelling story to get rich, if Twilight is any standard to judge by.)
