The task is to put the verb in the bracket in the correct tense (it shouldn't be any of the future tenses):
My father __________ me a bicycle for my birthday. (give)
We can use the past simple tense:
My father gave me a bicycle for my birthday.
Beside this answer, can we also use the present perfect tense?
My father has given me a bicycle for my birthday (and I have and use that bike in the present).
