Does this sentence sound idiomatic if I am talking about career choices and decisions about what a person wants to do in their life?

"I wanted to find my own path because it's vital to find your way of life."
 
No. I have no idea what you mean, especially by the last eight words.

I mean it is important to find one's calling. Should I use that instead?
