I wonder if one way to say I'm hungry is "My tummy is talking to me."

Is that because it can't be understood or no native speakers would ever say that?

If you're stomach was rumbling due to hunger and you were talking to a two-year-old, you could say "Oooh, listen. My tummy is talking to me". It's very important to note two things:
- For it to be talking to you, it has to be making a noise.
- The phrase is unsuitable for anyone other than a very young child.

Try:

My tummy is talking to me. It's telling me it wants spaghetti.

Or:

My tummy is talking to me. It's telling me it wants tamales.

I like the alliteration.

Do you think anybody would ever say that sentence all by itself?

Sentences like to have companions. They don't like to be alone.

Here's another one.

My tummy is talking to me. It's telling me it wants a donut.
😀

Aldi has sugar cookies decorated for Saint Patrick's Day.

When I went there they talked to me. They said, "Buy us!"

I think the original question has been dealt with. I am closing this thread.
