hello everybody,

Is there any difference in meaning between these two words: TUMMY and BELLY?

I want to say that "tummy" might be used slightly more than "belly" with children. But I also wouldn't bet anything on that.

Does your tummy hurt?

... and certainly tummy/belly over stomach.

I used 'tummy' with my children when they were fairly young. I use 'belly' in very informal situations, but normally use 'stomach'. I don't know whether it's personal, or British, but I cringe when I hear adults use 'tummy'.

'Tummy' is frequently used as in in "tummy tuck", which is admittedly easier than 'abdominoplasty'.
