1. Without technology, human would not have the achievements of today.
2. Without technology, human do not have the achievements of today.

Which one is better?

P.S. I think they are similar with the sentence which Obama said,
"And I wouldn't be the man I am today without the woman who agreed to marry me 20 years ago."

I'm really not sure about "have the achievements of today".
 
...and technology itself is a human achievement—it didn't happen by accident.

II. Could you tell me what the reason is? Is it because the tone of using ‘would’ is softer, less definite than ‘do’?
